To test your installation, you would copy the following line into its own file and name it EICAR.COM. X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H* When done, you will have a 69 or 70 byte file. When VirusScan is applied to this file, SCAN will report finding the EICAR-STANDARD-AV-TEST-FILE virus. It is very important to know that THIS IS NOT A VIRUS! However, users often have the need to test that their installations function correctly. The antivirus industry, through the European Institute for Computer Antivirus Research, has adopted this standard to facilitate this need. Please delete the file when installation testing is completed so unsuspecting users are not unnecessarily alarmed. Notes: The next DAT update is scheduled for July with another in Sept. Data security and protection are paramount issues while on the road. With these needs in mind, Commuter was designed especially for mobile and telecommuting professionals. It features an integrated set of powerful, affordable applications including: Virus Protection, Personal Desktop Storage Management, Electronic Mail, a Personal Information Organizer, Calendar, contact manager and to-do list.. Commuter can communicate through electronic mail, with the popular Pegasus e-mail package, and manage your schedule and contacts using Sidekick 95. Data protection is provided by McAfee's VirusScan 95, and personal file backup and disaster recovery is easy with McAfee's SmartStor. We are still working on this. If you encounter this, you can remove the other virus first or work in a separate area. ImageStor: See README.TXT in the "ImageStor" subdirectory. General Issues: 1. You must exit all Commuter programs including Commuter Dashboard before uninstalling. If you do not exit all Commuter programs, all components will not be removed. 2. ImageStor is not installed during a typical installation, but may be installed in a custom installation. 3. You must remove the tape from your tape drive prior to Commuter installation. If you do not remove the tape from your tape drive, upon restarting your computer for the first time after installing Commuter, an error will occur.
